How to Connect to GÉANT
Generally, any type of not-for-profit research and education activity, and some public institutions and offices, can use the network. Access is through the National Research and Education Network (NREN) in each country that links to the GÉANT network.

If you are a prospective user wanting to benefit from the GÉANT infrastructure, you should contact your NREN to establish whether your host institution is already connected.

  • If it is, you are ready to use GÉANT and you can find out from your host institution what services are available to you.
  • If it is not connected, the NREN will advise you of the application procedure.


How To Get Support
If you require support for your networking activities, contact your campus network support and through them, your NREN, who will be happy to help.

If you require support relating to pan-European or international network issues, please Contact Us directly. 

If you need to report malicious traffic such as spam, denial of service attacks, and suspect such traffic is reaching you via GÉANT or other network operated by DANTE, please contact your local campus or NREN. However, if you are using a commercial service, you should contact your Internet service provider.

Accessing the RIPE database may be of use in identifying the source of the traffic about which you are concerned. The RIPE Database contains registration details of Internet protocol (IP)  addresses originally allocated by them, and shows the organisations that hold the resources, where the allocations were made, and contact details for the networks.
